Flowerscapes

“The earth laughs in flowers” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The artist has always been inspired by classical white marble sculptures from the Greek and Romans. This monchromatic collection of sculptured white flowers from clay gets its inspiration from that fascination. The artist does not have a lot of experience with sculpture so this collection was a fun and experimental expression of her love for nature and themes relating to growth, life and death.

Is beauty fleeting or is beauty eternal? Just like a flower blooms and dies, all materials used to create beautiful art will eventually fade, crack and crumble. Ideals and standards of beauty are everchanging leaving us with a notion of beauty created by media and culture. Flowerscapes is a collection that captures and soldifies beauty in the form of a flower that will not die.
