A massive mural of over 100 feet in length was designed and painted by the artist in a well known creative space for local entrepreneurs, crafters, artists and musicians, called RootsYardd. Designed and painted in a record time of two weeks, this design was created with the theme, Ascension, for the reopening in a new location, The Oasis Backyard.
The beautiful design begins by the ocean, of the ocean! This design flows along the wall of over 100 feet in a cohesive way that joins the different elements of the concept. The ocean design with boats flows into the the land that is punctuated by vibrant flora and fauna which flows into greenry which flows back into the ocean. This design is a reflection of the new space by the ocean. It is a reflection of the boats that pass everyday, the vibrant sunset experiences and the hills seen in the distance.
The large and beautiful blossoming flowers are representative of growth and the evolution of RootsYardd into a bigger, brighter and more beautiful community space. Supporting all things local and creative are the main goals of the space that has now been greatly enhanced with energies of color and design. Included in the design is a tribute to the wonderful kids of RootsYardd seen in paintings of silhouettes of kids running through the flowers. These are easy to spot in the mural, but there are kids hiding somewhere in the design, playing and are up to some mischief. You must visit the space to figure out where they are hiding!
In addition, the tables were painted and designed as an extension of the mural. Aspects of the mural are highlighted where each table is different. Each table was individually painted with designs of the ocean with boats, the hills, flora and iconic images that RootsYardd is known for such as the speaker boxes, Black Chariot’s logo, RootsYardd’s logo, the night sky and sunset with birds. This concept represents the uniqueness, creativity and energy of each vendor where no two are the same.
The completion of this massive project could not have been possible without the incredible work, support and love from Jude & Sam, César Valero and all the other hands and artists who have passed through to leave their mark on the wall and create the space into what it is today. This mural project was created with great energies of enthusiasm, creativity, love, laughter, friendship, community, collaborations and great stories.
